Course Description

 

The course objective is to provide key home health agency billing personnel and others with detailed information regarding the new Prospective Payment System (PPS) and the impact of these changes on the agency’s billing operations.  An update of the most recent regulatory issuances and their impact on Medicare billing will be included.  This session will focus on providing practical solutions to common billing problems and suggestions to strengthen billing accuracy.  The UB92 and data to be contained by field locator will be discussed in detail for a variety of claim types.  The new HIQH data and other information available in the Common Working File (CWF) will also be explored. We will cover the pms5 package and the pms5 Bridge along with the use of the UFO desktop tools for more efficient and fast processing of data.  No course prerequisites or advanced planning is required.

Ivan Canalejo, PHD, is President of  IOA Tech,, P.A. (R&C) and has extensive experience in the programming field. As a Professor in Cuba, he has also traveled to Poland where he attended advanced applied mathematics seminars. 

Ileana Minervino  is the president of Comprehensive Home Health Care Systems.  Her career spans over two decades in the home care industry. Her credentials include a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami. Ms. Minervino has an impressive history in the home health care field since she has worked at agencies and owns her own home care software company since 1984.  She is experienced with HCPCS and ICD-9 coding requirements, billing software systems, OASIS encoding and electronic transmission requirements, and the PPS case-mix methodology.
