is this web posting Plan of Care (POC) and Orders thing?
The UFO and winpms has a feature that sends home care,
hospice and
other ancillary providers’ orders via computer to physician
offices. It will post to the web were they can view the POC and
verbal orders too. They can even review parts of the home care
record with security access if its setup that way. At the
physician office, the system will alert the doc with a
"you’ve got mail" type icon, where the physician can
read the order right on the screen and affix his or her
electronic signature by invoking a password. While the physician
is reviewing orders, UFO is providing him/her with an invaluable
timing routine which feeds a database that provides per-patient
oversight billing reports.
Physician POC electronic ability is a virtually untapped
source of revenue for physicians, where they can be reimbursed
for the time that they spend on the home care patient. The only
catch is that they are required to document this time. Until
this neat tool, most physicians didn’t bother. The task
of tracking this revenue was cumbersome and interrupted the
physician’s daily routine. With UFO and winpms, the time is
automatically tracked, and the physician is doing no extra work.
How does it work?
The UFO process is really simple!
- Home care enters in their order & clicks on a button
to send it to the physician.
- UFOmailer delivers the order to the physician and displays
a “you’ve got mail” type icon.
- Physician reviews order on the screen and clicks on the
mouse to affix his or her electronic signature by invoking
his or her password.
- UFOmailer automatically delivers the signed order back to
the home care provider, and automatically prints the order
to be stored in the paper chart.
